2009: Apointed Dye Artist for the River and Cloth Community Project. This project explores the relationship between the River Wandle and its history with the fabric and dye industry. The project includes techniques developed by India Flint ,including 'Hapa-zome',and featured in her book 'Eco Colour'(c)India Flint published by Murdoch Books, 2008. See press and video library 2007: Devised and delivered a series of workshops combining movement, weave and dyeing at Ricards Lodge High School (Merton). 2007:Developed a community workshop programme using recycled materials for the Shared Heritage organisation. 2006:Devised and delivered felt making workshops to the Clusters support group for adults with disabilities (Sutton). 2004 to 2006: Devised and deliverered annually for Merton Council, in association with the Embroiderers' Guild, Common Threads a community textile art project culminating in an exhibition in shopping centres in the Wimbledon area and nationally at the Knitting and Stitching Shows at Alexandra Palace London, RDS Dublin and the International Centre Harrogate. 2006: Designed and delivered Breathing Spaces workshop (collage and drawing) for William Morris School at Pollards Hill Library. 2006: Managed a community based art project to make wall hangings for the community centre as part of the 'Pollards Hill Common Art' programme. 2006: Project managed a programme of summer youth workshops (Phipps Bridge, Merton). 2003 to 2005: Project Manager for the Wandle Trail Art Programme (Merton Council) responsible for the organisation of a community art programme involving 3 community artists, delivering a series of workshops for schools and community groups. These ranged from pinhole photography and photography with disposable cameras to making sculptures from recycled waste materials. I identified and organised participant groups and provided hands on workshop delivery assistance to the artists. 2004 to 2005: Cultural Co-operation Artist Residencies; Project for Merton Council. I was responsible for the development of a relationship with Cultural Co-operation in order to secure the services of artists in Merton Schools. I arranged artists' residencies in 3 Merton schools. The residencies involved six to eight artists working with a year group in the school over a period of between six and eight weeks, culminating in a celebration performance and exhibition. 2005: Project managed the collaboration between Ricards Lodge High School and the London School of Samba culminating in a live performance by 'Bloco Ricards' at the Mitcham Carnival 2005. 2005 and 4: Project managed Black History Month celebratory events including teacher training sessions and youth performance events. 2004: Project managed the Merton Asylum Welcome Young Refugee Video Project culminating in a screening at the Wimbledon Odeon as part of Refugee Week. 2003: Project managed 'Raw Beauty' a film and photography summer youth workshop (Pollards Hill, Merton). |
